Pokesallet Root Conjure
As we learned in Wahya Circle, Pokeweed is a powerful Protective Plant Ally most times. Parts of the upper plant are used to actually “break a hex”. Mother Nature freely spreads this plant with the help of our Animal Allies to wherever needed.
But, in order to hex, the roots and some leaf can be called upon, or utilized.
PRE-WORK PRECAUTIONS
It is always best to wear gloves when hexing, but you can simply wash your hands afterward if you are only moving the raw ingredients from one location to another.
TO BEGIN
Choose what Deity, or Entity, you are going to be working with for this experience BEFORE you begin work. Divine upon it per your chosen method. Also remember, keep this Knowledge on hand, even if you do not “harm others” — you may find it imperative to Know for moments of need such as war, civil unrest, and various other moments where your life may be in danger. You are wise to address this entity solidly from your Path, or with guidance from its Path.

INGREDIENTS
For this conjure “ball”, you will need the roots of three small plants or one large one. (Most Practitioners give the minimum offering of gratitude and acknowledgement before violating this Plant Ally’s energetic sovereignty and removing it from the soil.)
The best time to harvest Plant Ally Pokeweed is after the berries have fallen off or they have been eaten by the summertime birds. However, most wild animals do not go for pokeweed as a meal unless they are starving, or the DARK berries are there. These juicy looking, purplish-black berries begin ripening in August and September drawing in our Animal Allies. From that point until the last shriveled berry disappears in late winter, pokeberries are eaten by an impressive list of Animal Allies, not just birds.
Mmm… berries! 😉
Now that the berries are gone, harvest your plant(s).
You can prepare the leaves as advised in Wahya Circle if you are having any feelings of “wastefulness” while you are harvesting the plant. Or, you can allow these leaves to dry, crush and powder them as incense to burn OUTSIDE with this Work. (Or, make a hexing mojo powder!)
The key to drying the roots is an even combination of heat and airflow. This is done easiest in the oven, toaster over, on a cookie sheet, and opening the door every few minutes. (Low 250 degrees) If you have a “dehydrator”, set it to somewhere between 95 and 115 degrees, the humidity of your weather depending. Once the Pokesallet Root is completely dry (the stem will snap not bend), you may snap it further into smaller pieces. Again, wear gloves if you have sensitivities or wash your hands immediately afterward.
You may leave the root at this stage for this conjure or you may place it into a dedicated processor to make into a powder form.
TO POWDER
Blenders, food processors, coffee grinders, any and all of these types of devices work well for roots BUT THEY HAVE TO BE DEDICATED TO YOUR MAGICK, NOT FOOD.
TO PRESERVE
Harvested just before the Pagan Celtic Tradition of Samhain, or Halloween, you may also place the roots carefully into a cardboard box or paper bag for storage in a dry area until ready to utilize in your practices.
TO HEX
The purpose of a Pokesallet Conjure Ball is to bring anxiety upon another, and cause another to have pliability in their energetic Being. This act makes them more prone energetically to accidents and injury.*
Once your target is selected, the root (root powder) is placed into a non-permeable bag, small glass jar or container.
PATH REQUIREMENTS
Some Paths require you to now speak the words that you have written and call upon the Deity you desire to invoke to ignite your Work.
PLACEMENT
This conjure Work is then left where the target will find it. This is done so that they will be psychically placed on high alert first. Many targets will then panic and be caused further anxiety which in turn causes them to be more prone to accident and injury befalling them. Imagine finding a bag of something tied with a specific thing in a specific way with some writing that cannot be read on it …. laying on your front tire. Hmmm….
*Always check your psychic side and rear view mirrors for COLLATERAL DAMAGE. If you bring harm to your target, will a child be orphaned? Does someone lose a caregiver? CHECK THOSE MIRRORS before placing your “car” in motion! Some things cannot be undone and if you do, you may bring that energy to SELF.
