World Studies 101
Emerald Isle
We have discussed Ireland in previous Lessons but never too deeply. The question of ‘people origin’ is still being answered to this day. Due partly to the stance of the once “European Union” and their view on ‘historical fact’ based in dogma, it did not allow much room for archaeological research. To our current knowledge, there were never “indigenous” people on the island like we have here in the United States, but there were humans native to that land, or “First Inhabitants”. Around 300 BCE, Iron Age warriors then known as Celts came to Ireland from mainland Europe. As such, Celts had a huge influence on Ireland from the beginning. Around 9 CE, that changed a little and the Norse invaded the Celt (derogatory Gaul) and began their colonization of the land via some known as Teutonic and the Church driven by the Roman Senate. Prior to that, what we know as Celts fought off both the Romans and Moors on a regular basis.
A kind of Celtic language has been in use by various populations over a few thousands of years but the language evolved along with the peoples who used it. For instance, the Christian era had an enormous influence of the development of Celtic language - a large percentage of words in Irish Gaelic are Latinate in origin. Words and place names came in with the Teutonic via Rome. Prior to the invasion by Rome, many of the Celtic tribes did not read nor write, nor did they speak similar native tongues from settlement to settlement. They simply found simple and efficient ways to communicate with one another.
The language continued to change with the colonizations by other nations throughout time. As an island, Ireland has always been subject to invasion from all sides.
HISTORY
What we now call Irish (Irish: Muintir na hÉireann or Na hÉireannaigh) are an ethnic group and nation mostly native to the island of Ireland, who all share a common history and culture. There have been humans in Ireland for about 33,000 years according to most current archaeological record. It now has been continually inhabited for more than 10,000 years.
Although Ireland is now known as a Celtic country it has not always been the case. In terms of how long it has been populated, the Celts are relative newcomers. It appears they were the “first” to gather in strength as a large tribe and enslave, or colonize, another.
For more than 7,000 years the island was inhabited by people of the Stone Age. Very little is currently known about them although they did leave behind many clues which has enabled historians and archaeologists to offer us a glimpse of who they were and how they lived. With caution due to the state of the world political climate, we work carefully to explore this.
The first people in Ireland were hunter gatherers who arrived around 7,000 to 8,000 BCE. Quite late compared with most of southern Europe. The reason was the climate. The same reason our scientists are able to see clues now. The climate is changing again as Mother Earth goes through Her Great Cycles.
CLIMATE EFFECT
As the ice has melted and the ground has softened, we are beginning to uncover quite a bit about the past. Middens in bogs, deposits of stone and iron in various bodies of once frozen water or peat areas, are all showing us who many once were.
Remember, the last “ice age”, or “glacial period” lasted until around 25,000 years ago. The ice had to melt a bit so it was only about 10,000 years ago that hunter gatherers were able to move around in many parts of the world, including a place close to the arctic, Ireland.
Once the climate changed, the people came to the Emerald Isle on a more permanent basis.

Divination 101
Cartomancy
Six - VI - 6
Sixes represent stability and security or the potential opportunity to find and embody it. A halt, ceasefire, has been called for on individual battles or struggles in life. If indicated by surrounding cards, the storm seems to have passed as each Suit will seek to comfort, harmonize, make peace and equilibrium in the only way they know which is governed by their influencing Element, Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Most will be showing signs of exhaustion or fatigue but hey may all need help and support from those around them as in the other cards in your reading. Sixes in the Tarot are also connected with Charity, Patronage and Support. Mind your resources. They must now look to those around them, family, friends or the wider community to assist with the continued Journey. All have a role and duty to play at this stage and the act of Giving and Receiving comes into strong focus here.
Suits
Pentacles - Earth - Physical Matter
Scales not in balance.
Notice the people on their knees? It is perceived that those less evolved in their Experience of Matter cannot ever gain what they need. Why? We must remember to NOT be afraid to ask for help. Ask, but also receive it or accept the help if offered.
This indicates also living life to its fullest potential. It also indicates that we are or should be receiving what is rightfully ours. If you have an abundance, share. Pay it forward. Be sincerely charitable, not because it gives a tax break.
Mind personal investments. Especially with personal or HUMAN GROWTH. Ask yourself also, if you are investing time or money into someone that is not utilizing the efforts well. It is okay to be a rescuer, but do NOT enable as it harms personal growth.
Cups - Water - Emotions
Happy times, real or perceived. One can make their own happiness, but is it founded in truth? Is it denial of needed Shadow or Ego work?
Symbolism (RWS):
See the person in the background? Is this a person approaching home with a spear, or do they come in peace? What purpose do they symbolically serve in your emotional state? Do you feel trapped by something external?
White lilies: When we give, we give our best. But, when you do give, do not give out of convenience. Strong connection to Divinity is crucial in this card. Purity of heart and unclouded vision is needed for guiltless giving.
This card further indicates that change is occurring naturally and slowly, imperceptible to others.
“Card of childhood memories”; “card of hearth”
The Six of Cups is dependent on the surrounding cards for a clearer meaning. Think about what made you happy as a child. Do you spend too much time contemplating the past that you cannot create new things?
Pure joy. Gift from childhood, friend, admirer. New opportunities. Inheritance, not just money. Books. Character. Pets. Etc. Are you returning to an old job? This card also indicates a past life bond. You may meet someone from your past, or past life. They may be Ex, friend, boss, etc… could be good, could be bad.
Could be indicative of an immature person.
“Five to one, baby, one in five. No one here gets out alive…”
— Jim Morrison
Swords - Air - Thought
It is perceived that the person who draws this card “survived” – barely, whether it was by luck or wit. Is it now time to take a trip to clear your mind? Notice the boat — is it sitting low in the water? “Safety first” – am I safe in this place/situation? To “just be surviving”, one becomes an Experienced person, able to speak on the matter at hand, but it does not speak of growth from the Experience.
There is an increase in emotional intelligence through thought when this card appears. There is also a notable increase in the willingness to learn after an event. One does have to ask, “am I approaching this with an open mind?”
Do I need to send another, more qualified, person in place?
Note that sorrow typically diminishes if one is moving AWAY from the source and it is fulfilled.
Long distance relationships are able to happen WITH WORK. You are ready for the next step, or one may need to reassess the situation. Can you make it better?
Never allow negativity to trap you. Negative people, etc. That bears no fruit in your relationship. Step away from it. Restabalize. Balance. Wise person.
Choose times to speak wisely. Timing is everything.
Wands - Fire - Transformation/Transmutation
Victory after absolute disturbance occurs.
Symbolism (RWS):
White Horse: stability, strong, ties to shamanistic practice
(Also found in Chariot card)
People holding wands nearby; it took a community to overcome matter, not just the rider on the horse.
Crown/wreath hanging from wand is wreath of remembrance of others that helped and may no longer be present.
“This is not the first rodeo.” “Yes, this person can do this.” Not as important in presentation of person, let hair down. Relax after victory.
Person may not be happy, but Horse is. Pay attention to surrounding cards.
Sustainability. Community. (work?) Enterprise. Mentality.
Major Arcana
Is it not interesting that the two Major Arcana cards were devised in such a seemingly juxtaposed way? Reduced numerologically to same number, 6, a often harmonious number in Spirit. VI Lovers is Spirit and XV is Matter, are simply a representation of when we are either “guided by Spirit” or “guided by Matter”.
The Lovers VI
In this card, the “Radiance of Love is present”. Pure love produces much fruit, love, action, rain on hot days, …bathes soul, well being, fulfilled life completely.
Other Paths influenced symbols on this card, such as Christianity and Hermeticism.
Obvious differences: RWS vs Marseille
Tree (Knowledge)
Brilliant red’winged creature/entity
No clouds (Divinity)
No mountains
The Man is being pulled in two different directions as evidenced by his downward gaze versus her upward gaze. This is indicative of a dilemma.
It can also represent balance in the sense of “One Vice, One Virtue”.
What is the Querant’s question? How does it relate to what you see?
Two paths. A choice. A temptation. A choice between belief systems. Person has question of which way to turn on a decision.
Buy vs. rent. Yes vs. no.
Is someone causing an upset? Someone stirring things up?
Person is not necessarily “bad” they are just causing indecision.
“Two different stories”
Numeral six is also indicative of the divine force of nature. Are we dealing with an antagonistic person? There is equilibrium between intelligence and will.
The winged being is symbolic of the Authority between two. Meaning, everyone should remain EQUAL. Hence, no “head” of household exists. There are NO BODY PARTS in a family. ONLY PURE LOVE. Share in responsibilities, even children. Children are extremely intelligent and can share in small ways.
Universal Love. Be the Love you feel you need and give it.
Female character is subconscious mind
Male is conscious mind.
Winged being is superconscious mind.
Everything comes down to the question being asked. Remember: “Every card answers every question, every time.” You just have to SEE the answer.
“The only person that can live your life, is you.”
The Devil XV
Symbolism: Half cube: half knowledge; half story - Physicality of existence
Torch: lit male’s tale on fire, indicative of libido
Female tail: Grapes: life; living
Male tail: Fire: living; ambition; passion; action
Strong influence on many Paths because this card is misconstrued.
Hand: cross: four elements and spirit - Jewish symbol with hand (Vulcan)
“Evolution of creation”
Living to the fullest, excess, judgment by those other Paths. Have we created our own fear? Are we afraid to “let go”? How are you enjoying your physicality?
Pentacle: “devil”; Teaching within 5 elements. To not be ashamed of living life to its fullest.
“Fed lies about need to be restrained. Face is sad.”
(Expression is essential.)
***SHADOW WORK*** is needed.
Someone or something you have allowed to dominate your life. Ask yourself. Take stock. Pure perception, not in reality.
Look at the obvious. Do you feel chained? Controlled?
This is a good card to receive if you are considering a marriage or partnership. It can be a forewarning or something for a prenuptial talk.
In the representation of bondage. BDSM. Do they like it? It is okay. Appropriate use of authority? Are YOU abusing someone?
This card can also indicate illness: When was last checkup? Addiction? Temptation. Anyone can break free from ANYTHING.
Ineffectual person/thing effecting you?
PLEASE NOTE: In “past” positions, this often means the Querant has overcome all cards around.
In “future” position, poor decision making or a significant temptation lies ahead.
The Devil & The Lovers are connected.
L I V E D or D E V I L … which one are you? All things in moderation.
“I’m the one that’s gotta die when it’s time for me to die. So, let me live my life the Way I want to”
