We will take today a little lighter and focus on our Protection as we continue Journeying in this magickal Universe.

Devil’s Claw

Devil’s claw is the common name of a group of plants in the Sesame (Pedaliaceae) family of plants native to Southern Africa. The specific species most often mentioned in magickal and healing circles are Harpagophytum procumbens, or Harpagophytum zeyheri.

Its strongest effect is as a Protective magick herb.

The name devil’s claw is the folk name given to several other magickal plants including stinging nettle, and Unicorn plant, but this is NOT it.

Other Names
Grapple Plant, Wood Spider, and Harpago.

Harpagophytum procumbens is native to Namibia, Botswana, and the Kalahari region of South Africa

Harpagophytum zeyheri is found in Namibia and southern Angola.

Both plants are considered medicinal and are used for a similar purpose. Over-harvesting in the wild has led these plants to enjoy protected status in their native range.

COMMON (A common source that many Practitioners use to verify medicinal properties.) This plant is purported to be able to be eater after steaming as with most “greens” and before the plant becomes woody.

Phenakite

Phenakite is a very rare silicate gemstone mined in Nigeria and used in Yoruban Folk Magick. While it can be colored a pale blue or yellow/sherry color when it comes out of the ground, the color almost always disappears when its exposed to light. Again, it is ideal to come across this stone responsibly sourced if you are going to take on a piece from Mother Earth.

Phenakite has similar properties to Danburite that it elevates other stones. This stone also helps reach vibrations for the Higher Self. Also spelled Phenacite, it is one of the “Synergy 12” stones and often considered the highest energy crystal in existence. The extremely high vibration can not only multiply the energies of other stones used in crystal healing but energy crystals such as phenakite are thought to help activate the “light body” as well as to quickly enhance the process of spiritual ascension and evolution. #Zen

Knowledge is Power

This has stirred the cauldron of modern practice for many Practitioners. With a book that is referenced in most African studies at the University level, there has to be some truth to it. It does come highly recommended.

New Moons

Intentions of Self

The New Moon occurs in most signs of the zodiac NO LESS than once per year. New Moons are usually about “beginnings” on most Paths, a time when things take root.

We are wise to also consider the astrological sign that Dark, or Balsamic, Moon is passing through, not just acknowledge that She does it. The energy projected from those stars, or planets, that make those constellations have been known to effect magickal workings for thousands of years. It is not “new technology”, as our human kindred have been trying to be heard above the Din of Dogma to share this Knowledge with us the whole time.

For example, a Taurus New Moon we are taught it is especially focused on doing things that are real, tangible, or of Matter. It is about making something happen that has substance to it.

Some other things to take into consideration while you are working with the moon is “how close” it is to you.

For distances, we look at “micromoons” and “supermoons”.

Micromoon: A Full Moon or New Moon that takes place when the center of the Moon is farther than 405,000 kilometers (ca. 251,655 miles) from the center of Earth.

Supermoon: A Full or New Moon that occurs when the center of the Moon is nearer, or less than 360,000 kilometers (ca. 223,694 miles) from the center of Earth.

For tonight, focus on what you want to manifest for this lunar cycle, REGARDLESS OF WHAT PHASE OR SIGN IT IS IN. You have already made a pact with Luna for this Journey, now make one with Self.

Let us make it happen. Think about what you need to do, or see, or hear, to make one simple thing come into being this cycle.

Commune with your Higher Self and make a plan for that “one” simple thing. Explore options with Luna and Self and determine if you can FEEL your way through the next 28 days.

An attainable, tangible, goal.

28 Days.

Maybe that one thing is washing your car that you have not washed in five years. Clearing your yard from a party two years ago. Making that garden in that back of your flat you have been talking about. Reading a book you picked up at Good Will and never read. Making a new post about helicopters because you think they are cool.

No matter what that ONE THING is you have been putting off for some time, NOW is the time to commit to a plan in manifesting the change needed to make it happen and how to remove the obstacles that may be in your way.

So, decrease your external stimuli, listen for Higher Self to interact, try some gentle planning.

Remember, do NOT confuse the time with ridding yourself of the thing. That magick is for another moon. This Moon Watch is for observing Luna in all her glory AND MANIFESTING THE TANGIBLE GOAL. SHORT TERM.
