Western European Practices:
Welsh Mabon

As you recall, one of the practices held by the Celts are the values they place on “groves”, which happened to be cherished gatherings of oak trees. The derived word then became “druid”. The word Druid may derive from another Celtic word meaning “knower of the oak tree”. The Gaelic word for oak is darach and it remains in place names such as Glac Daraich (oak hollow/small valley) in Glen Affric.

The word “druid”, pronounced with breathed sounds and trilled r, sounds most like “drooy” when a non native speaker of Gaelic attempts. It comes from a Latin transcription of the Celtic word for a social class of people among the Ancient Celts who concerned themselves with prophecy and ritual.

Along with that practice of ritual, they held onto their Plant Ally: Mistletoe. This plant is one of the Druids' most potent and magickal plants, frequently found as a symbiote on oak trees. The metaphysical properties that survived with Plant Ally Mistletoe begin with Fertility, Healing, and Protection. In science, we know mistletoe will kill itself before it kills its host tree. It also releases chemicals into the tree’s “blood” that bring nutrients from the soil for both plants.

Keep this knowledge in mind for today’s Magickal task.

Druid Inspired Challenge
”Mistletoe Magick”

Your challenge for the time of Mabon (Ma-bawn in Welsh) is to find an Oak that has been divinely blessed with the symbiotic relationship of Mistletoe.

You are to cleanse, clear and ground per your method and psychically approach this tree, OR, actually sit with this tree to learn and connect to Protection.

GOAL
PROTECTION
As the Earth tilts back away from our star, many Practitioners begin setting their Protections and Wards to carry them through the Autumnal Equinox as well as for Winter Solstice, or “lean times”. You may do this per your Path, but “introductions” are considered polite amongst The Trees, or Tree People, especially if you are going to ask to be taught some of the Mistletoe Magick or blessed with its Protection.

PURPOSE
To gain better understanding of our place in the Universe amongst its Magick and Medicine, especially with that of Earth.

HOW TO
The method you choose will determine your Submission.

If you do this:

Psychically

(No mistletoe is physically present in your area.)
Describe your chosen Psychic method and Magick or Medicine goal, as well as the results of the encounter.
What Knowledge were you gifted? (This may not be evident until after a dream or deep meditation.)
What did you sense with your Matter senses while visiting the Tree for the Mistletoe?
What did you feel with Spirit? Also mention if this Tree is tangible Matter or one that resides in your Psychic altar, garden, space, or meditation spot.
