Sigil Craft - Seeding

Long acting magick. Magick you can grow. Magick that lasts as long as we care for the Plant Ally that we work with.

THIS is Sigil Seeding.

While this is not a “new” Magick or Medicine for everyone, it is one that we like to set in motion as we begin to complete our Circle with Yona on our Journey. The next seasonal change we are coming into for the Northern Hemisphere is a time of planting and preparing for First Harvest. You are going to communicate with the Universe during this transformative time.

In previous Lessons, we have learned how to “plant by the moon”. We have also learned that Sigil Craft is quick, easy to do, and considered to be a very strong personal Magick or Medicine that is quietly hidden. Their ability to become so faceted adds to their eloquence and makes them the favorites -- or “go to” for many Practitioners.

Effective in all of its forms as many “positive results” have been reported, sigils are an excellent tool in any Practitioner’s gig bag.  The more you practice sigils, the better you will become.

In this Lesson, we will discuss prolonging the Sigil Seeding Magick or Medicine and helping them become even stronger over time. This will be a continuous line of communication with the Universe imbued with your Intent.

KEY STEPS
There are two Key steps considered in sigil creation:

Intent and Activation.

The act of drawing your sigil and meditating on its design via your chosen gnostic method energizes it with your Intent. (Sexual activity, Varying degrees of pain, Love, Vapidity of the Mind, etc.). With Activation, you release this energy and set the sigil to task. These two steps are common practice, not just with Chaos Magi.

ALTARS
Many Practitioners have access to an altar for this process. Whether it be a physical place they can visit in the home, on the property, or they have built a psychic altar with Spirit and do not require one of Matter. Since this is often long acting, many Practitioners will use an altar because one can re-activate OR recharge the sigil any time they visit the altar.  Reinforcing the symbolism of your Craft routinely, with as many rituals as you would like, keeps it charged for the long haul.

If an altar of Matter is not available or not the easiest idea at the moment, the Altar of Spirit or your psychic altar is to be employed. Keep in mind this Craft works best for most like an Altar Spell but will require a different kind of attention.  By tending to it daily, you “charge” the work with each interaction, just as you would with Altar Spells that are left there or found on ones’ “Crafting table”. (The place for long term Work.) When we plant our Craft in this way it is much simpler to maintain because it requires only water and sun from Matter actively, and absorbs Air and Earth passively.

In Spirit, it will require a different kind of energy with your Charging. It is noted that the Work spans from Solar Magick, Earth Magick, and Elemental Magick to the benefits of working outside, gardening indoors or out.  These activities are found to be both healing and meditative. It is also well established that meditation can help create the Vapidity to Charge your work.

THE SIGIL
The sigil you create is of course, personal to you. The Craft we are going to do, is known by many names with “The Flower Sigil” is the most common… but you do not have to tell anyone what you are doing outside of the school.

STEPS
You
know you are planting seeds.

Before that occurs, Craft your Sigil with Intent.

Decide your Intent to determine the seed
.

Look at your Correspondences relative to the Craft you are starting. Planting seeds calls for the New/Dark/Balsamic Moon. Then ask your Self, what magick do you wish to call on? Do you need Protection and the Plant Ally Rosemary? Do you need Healing and the Plant Ally Echinacea?

Once decided, the moon phases and correspondences are calculated, and it is determined if you can write on the seed. If we recall from Wahya Circle, the Moon impacts plant growth through geotropism—which is how plants grow in response to the Earth’s gravity.  As shared also, roots grow downward in the direction of that gravitational pull and stems grow up, away, in the opposite direction. This behavior can be easily demonstrated with potted plants by laying one on its side. Upon doing so, the stem will grow upwards. Consider a tulip bulb: if you plant the bulb incorrectly with the top pointed end down, it will turn around and send its shoots upward, even though it’s in total darkness.

Regardless, the seed you choose has a correspondence itself, as well as the color it produces having a correspondence. All of this can be considered for your Sigil Craft.

Next, ask yourself, “can I write on this seed?”

IF YOU CAN, proceed to STEP 2.

If you cannot, go to STEP 3.

STEP 2

  • SEEDS YOU CAN WRITE ON, Sunflower seeds, various melons, various gourds.
If you want to work with another Plant Ally, just make sure the seeds will be large enough to write on.

  • A fine tip marker.

  • Biodegradable material, like newspaper or egg cartons, for seed planters

  • Moss agate (optional)

  • Soil

STEP 3

  • SEEDS YOU CANNOT WRITE ON, poppy seeds, most flower seeds, etc.
If you want to work with another Plant Ally, just make sure the seeds will be large enough to not lose on paper.

  • Paper (Use an opposite color to the seed if you can)

  • A fine tip marker.

  • Biodegradable material, like newspaper or egg cartons, for seed planters, plant containers, etc

  • Moss agate (optional)

  • Soil

Because the sigil is going to be drawn on a seed, or on a piece of paper large enough for the seeds to sit on/in, think simple. If using a sheet of paper, no worries. Make sure you start out with a couple of seeds, just in case you need some practice writing on them. Practice drawing that sigil on paper, too.

To make your own container, fold the newspaper into a planter for your seed. This is very easy to do and there are lots of instructions available online. The important thing is that you do use a biodegradable material that will be absorbed by the Earth once you transplant your spell.

If you are using the egg cups of an egg carton, just cut one of them free. Prepare your container.

After your planter is ready, redraw your sigil on the inside so it will be hidden by the soil.

Looking back over our work, this brings us to about the third sigil of the process, reinforcing the sigil already marked on the seed, or paper, and your original design. Each sigil will be activated in a different way and at different times, to hopefully maintain the sigil’s potency over time. (Each time you Craft (write) the sigil you are imbuing it with your energy, even if its “just the thought” of the action.)

Before you fill you planter with soil, if you are writing your sigil on paper, place it in the bottom of your planter. (Fold it if there is need.)

Fill your planter with soil, plant your seeds and give it a good pour of water to wet the soil through.

DETAILS
Many seeds, like Sunflowers, are very hardy so you do not need to worry about seed depth nor too many planting parameters. But, the smaller the seed, the more you benefit by paying attention to that facet. It is especially crucial to know your “growing zone” as you may have to provide warmth to your chosen correspondent seed too. For most though, as long as you keep the planter moist and in the sun, you will have a seedling in a few days to weeks.

ELEMENTAL ACTIVATION
Though you are working with one sigil design, you should have two or three versions of it:
The original you drew, the sigil drawn on the seed, and/or the sigil at the bottom of the planter.

FIRE – FIRST ACTIVATION
The first activation will be by Element Fire and will involve the original sigil as drawn on your chosen paper. This can be done on the first day of planting, so the sigil will still be Charged. Simply focus on your Intent and set the sigil on fire, ruminating on your Sentence of Intent as the paper burns. Watch it. What colors do you see? Is the flame high and strong? Low and weak? These are revealing the obstacles to you of which your magick has to overcome.

After observing the burning of the sigil, sprinkle the ashes of this sigil over the top layer of soil in your planter.

This is the first Elemental Activation, by Element Fire.

WATER – SECOND ACTIVATION
The second activation is simply that of pouring Element Water into your planter. Pour slowly. Speak your Intent to Element Water, imbuing it with your energy and the task of the sigil work.

Element Water will eventually Activate the sigil you drew on the seed, occurring when the seed germinates. The seed will split, and begin its own magick – the creation of new life! Element Water also activates by dissolving your sigil drawn on paper below the soil. By adding your sigil to such a natural and powerful processes, your sigil’s activation is more influential and your spell begins this stage with a much stronger and renewed energy.

This is the second Elemental Activation, by Element Water.

EARTH – THIRD ACTIVATION
Once the seedling is big enough, you can transfer it to the world outside your home or sacred space by placing the planter directly into, or on, the ground.

This is the third activation of your sigil; the slow decay of the biodegradable planter or paper you have written the sigil on. Activation by Earth, which continues the decomposition process, is one of the most powerful on Earth.

Those are the three sigil Activations, each one reinforcing the others, each one on a slight delay. Your spell and sigils are working for you while requiring minimal effort on your part over weeks or months.

AIR – FINAL ACTIVATION
The final activation of your sigil is when your planted seed breaks the surfaces and tastes Element Air for the first time. The power of this magick dissipates and imbues the air around it, traveling to obstacles and continuing to work towards your Intent.

Congratulations!
Your Sigil Craft has been cast with the Intent your Spirit seeks.  Now it is time to care for your new embryonic Plant Ally.

TIME OF MAGICK
Because sigil activations are so involved, it is highly doubtful you will need to do much more for an already strong Sigil Craft. The sigil in the earth will take some time to decompose, making this a time-delayed activation, which also works in your favor. Usually about 4 to 6 weeks. All you have to do now is care for your Plant Ally.

EXTRA MAGICK
If you wish, pamper your Plant Ally a little. Some of the things you can do for the Sigil Craft of Seeding:

CRYSTALS OR STONES: Remember the “ites” but most stones can enhance this Craft. Moss Agate is a wonderful Stone Medicine to include for your Plant Ally. Look to see if there are others amongst your correspondences that may be of aid. Even if they are an “ite” stone, you can still place it next to the planter or in a dry container or pouch near the Plant Ally to give the energy.

WATERS: The water you use for this magick can simply come from your tap or specifically collected from your source or weather of correspondence, and even consecrated. Moon Water OR Sun Water may be used to imbue this with your Intent as well.

Simply put, try keeping everything as natural as possible to avoid cross contamination of energies. (Unless you cleanse and clear everything!) It is NOT recommended to use anything like essential oils on the plant or near the soil as these can be damaging. AVOID SALT.

Because this is so powerful, many Paths will imbue seeds every Vernal Equinox with Intent for the coming harvests. Practitioners do this in groups as well as prepare these as gifts for friends and family.

However, because creating sigils for other people can be tricky, it is important to create each one with someone specific in mind and activate it yourself before giving it away. This way instead of handing someone else your sigil and hoping it works for them, you simply create one for them and they can plant it themselves. It is truly up to that person to accept any energy placed into the Universe for them, no matter who did the magick or what is considered the Intent.

They have to ALLOW it, or WELCOME it, in order to feel the effects of the Sigil Craft in their lives.

WITCHES GARDEN
Naturally, as you Craft in this way more and more often, you will begin to accumulate Plant Allies. These may reside in your home, sunroom, porches, etc. Some Practitioners even begin a magickal garden on their property with each plant working its magick for them while they also can utilize the plant magick and medicine abundance that springs forth!
